Stainless steel ball valves are widely deployed in diverse piping systems for their outstanding corrosion resistance and mechanical properties. Their service life is influenced by multiple factors, including but not limited to material grades, manufacturing processes, operating environments, operational practices and medium characteristics. Under normal temperature conditions, high-quality stainless steel ball valves generally deliver a service life of 10 to 20 years. In harsh working conditions such as high temperature, high pressure, or strong acids and alkalis, however, their service life may drop significantly, typically ranging from 5 to 10 years.
It is worth noting that sealing performance exerts a major influence on the service life of stainless steel ball valves. Premium stainless steel ball valves can sustain extremely low leakage rates, even meeting zero-leakage standards under high pressure differential conditions, which effectively prolongs service life. Seal aging and other factors will raise leakage risks and compromise the overall durability of the ball valve.
