Storage (Pre-Installation)
Store indoors, valve closed, ends capped. Operate every six months during extended storage-seats can take a set if compressed in one position for years. This isn't paranoia; it's warranty preservation.
Installation
Clamped ends require proper gasket selection. EPDM for water, PTFE for chemicals, Viton for hydrocarbons. Wrong gasket = leak or contamination.
Support the valve. Clamps don't carry pipe weight. Hangers within 3 pipe diameters on both sides.
Don't use as a throttling valve. Ball valves seal by line contact between ball and seat. Partial opening creates turbulent flow that erodes the sealing surface. Within months, you'll have a leak that can't be fixed by tightening the packing.
In-Service Maintenance
