Heavy Pattern Elbow 45°

Heavy Pattern Elbow 45°

The MSS-SP-112 Elbow 45° is a standard industrial stainless steel pipe fitting manufactured in full compliance with MSS-SP-112. The MSS-SP-112 Elbow 45° is designed to create gradual, smooth directional changes in stainless steel piping systems, eliminating sharp corners, flow turbulence and excessive thermal stress that often occur with 90° elbows.
This fitting is widely used to resolve alignment issues between equipment nozzles, valves, short spool pieces and existing pipelines in real‑world installation scenarios. The MSS-SP-112 Elbow 45° is not a custom component, so most customers purchase it based on material consistency, end connection matching and actual service conditions, typically as part of piping packages, maintenance spare parts lists or plant retrofit projects.
The MSS-SP-112 Elbow 45°serves used for utility piping, compact skid‑mounted equipment connections and general industrial stainless steel systems in chemical, water treatment, manufacturing and food and beverage facilities.

Product Description

Made from cast austenitic stainless steel through precision investment casting, The MSS-SP-112 Elbow 45° redirects fluid flow at a 45° angle with smooth internal contours. The MSS-SP-112 Elbow 45° is intended for installations where straight piping is impractical and a 90° elbow would cause excessive displacement or layout interference.

In field fabrication, this fitting is commonly installed near pumps, instruments, filter housings, support frames and skid‑mounted equipment-areas with limited installation space. A 90° elbow often creates a shift of more than 15 mm, while our 45° elbow limits offset within 5 mm to meet standard piping installation tolerances.

Two end connections are available to suit different construction requirements:Threaded ends (NPT / BSPT): Easy to install and replace, ideal for systems that require periodic disassembly or maintenance.Socket weld ends: Provide a compact, rigid and leak‑proof connection, suitable for permanent, fixed pipework.Material selection directly affects service life:304 stainless steel: For general industrial service with mild environments.316 stainless steel: Offers superior corrosion resistance, especially in wet, chloride‑exposed or chemically aggressive conditions.

Before ordering, confirm the following specifications to match your on‑site pipeline system:

1. Material Grade: CF8,CF8M (low‑carbon grades for welding to prevent intergranular corrosion)

2. End Connection: NPT thread, BSPT thread, socket weld

3. Applicable Media: Water, compressed air, neutral industrial fluids, weakly corrosive media (depending on material grade)

All products are supplied with required documentation including:Material Test Reports (MTR).Heat number traceability. PMI (Positive Material Identification) records.Factory quality inspection reports.

Pipe size must be selected according to approved line specifications or physical replacement parts. Pressure and temperature ratings must be verified against the manufacturer's published data.

Product Advantages

1. Improved Flow & Layout Flexibility: The MSS-SP-112 Elbow 45° reduces flow resistance and avoids the sharp redirection of a 90° elbow, making pipeline alignment, tie‑ins and field corrections much easier for installation crews.

2. Strong System Compatibility: The MSS-SP-112 Elbow 45°Using the same CF8/CF8M material grade as the rest of the pipeline ensures consistent performance, simplifies procurement and prevents galvanic corrosion caused by mixed materials.

3. Installation Versatility: Threaded ends support fast, non‑welded installation. Socket weld ends provide high structural integrity for permanent systems. Both designs adapt to common on site construction methods.

4. Practical for Inventory & Maintenance: As a standard fitting, The MSS-SP-112 Elbow 45° is widely used in plant retrofits, shutdown repairs, skid fabrication and daily maintenance. It is suitable for OEM equipment builders and end users alike.

Note: Corrosion resistance depends entirely on material grade and actual service environment. Always verify compatibility before use.

Main Applications

1. Industrial utility lines: Water, compressed air and general service piping in crowded mechanical rooms.

2. Equipment connections: Pump outlets, instrument branches, compact skids and modular equipment.

3. Water treatment & dosing skids: Short piping runs around tanks, filters, valves and sampling points.

4. Plant maintenance & retrofit: The MSS-SP-112 Elbow 45°Used as an alignment fitting to match new and existing pipelines with minimal on‑site rework.

5. Food, beverage & clean utilities: Suitable for utility and support piping (not for direct sanitary process contact without special polishing).

FAQ

Q: 1. What is the main purpose of The MSS-SP-112 Elbow 45°?

A: It is used to adjust the direction of stainless steel pipelines by 45°, for mild alignment correction instead of a sharp 90° turn.

Q: 2. What material grades are available?

A: Standard options: 304 and 316. Low‑carbon versions 304L and 316L are available for welded applications.

Q: 3. How to choose between 304 and 316?

A: 304 is for general industrial service. 316 is recommended for humid environments, chloride exposure or conditions requiring higher corrosion resistance.

Q: 4. When to use threaded vs. socket weld ends?

A: Choose threaded ends for systems that need frequent disassembly or where welding is not convenient.
Choose socket weld ends for permanent, fixed piping that requires high strength and leak‑tightness.
